Setting Up Learners
While you can set up
learners on the Admin side of the LMS, your users will
always setup learners from the Corp side of the LMS.
The advantage of setting up learners on the Corp side of
EspritLMS is that it automatically assigns the learner to
the correct Cost Center and allows courses to be assigned in
the initial setup as well.
During the setup you will need to
provide the following:

Learner's name (This is what will be
displayed on the learner's course and module
certificates.)
- Learner
identifier (you can use this to further
segregate your employees beyond the cost center level or
you can use it for employee number or you don't have to
use it at all - your choice :-)

Supervisor (If you wish to assign a
supervisor, select a supervisor from the list of
supervisors in the dropdown list. If the
supervisor has not yet been set up in the syste, you
will need to add the supervisor as a learner)
- Phone
number (again, your choice as to whether you
use it)
- E-mail
address (you will need to include the e-mail
address if you want to be able to send automated
messages from EspritLMS to the employee - for example,
course registration and login information)

Permission level (there are four permission
levels - you can learn more about permission levels
below)
- Catalog
access (this determines whether your users
see a listing of all of the courses available in their
cost center and whether they are able to self-assign
courses or if they must request the cost center
administrator to register them for the course.
- Courses
available (use this to limit the number of
courses that a user can take - if this is left to 0 it
will be unlimited)
- Username
(must be a unique name which is why we always recommend
using the e-mail address - it IS case sensitive so we
recommend all lower case for both the username and
password) (Once a username is set, it cannot be
changed on the Corp Side. However, you can change
it on the admin side.)
- Password
(Letters and numbers up to 10 characters)
Permission Levels

There are four levels of learner
permissions with EspritLMS. They are:
Level 1:
Learner Learners can access training, read
LMS and Corporate News, contact the Cost center
Administrator.
Level 2:
Supervisor Supervisors have the same
functionality as learners. In addition supervisors can
view the training records for employees assigned to them and
can also assign courses to employees.
Level 3:
Cost Center Administrators Cost Center
Admins have the same functionality as Supervisors but they
can also setup learners and they can review learner records
for the entire cost center.
Level 4:
Corporate Administrators Corporate Admins
have the same functionality as Cost Center Admins but they
can also setup cost centers, assign courses to cost centers,
and set up learners with permission levels through cost
center admins. |
